Raising Funds with the School Community:
-Organize a school garden committee with teachers, parents, cafeteria staff, administration, community leaders and students.
-Go visit other school gardens in your community....there could be one right down the street!!
-Work with the committee to propose a line item in the PTO budget.
-Collaborate with MNPS and Metro Beautification for possible resources.
-Contact your subject area coordinator for MNPS.....they can point you to appropriate lesson plans.
-Also, create a FUNDRAISING LETTER and take it to local hardware stores, garden centers (Lowe's, Home Depot) or other local businesses to ask for supplies, volunteers or teaching support.
-Work with your local library to get curricula and gardening books put on the shelves!
-Have one of the committee members create a NETWORK NOTEBOOK to keep track of possible contacts, resources, events and fundraiser opportunities. This way you don't lose numbers and valuable information. Don't forget those who have been a huge help in keeping your garden growing.
